Today in the Archeological Museum ...

Students presented on the ways the collection exhibited Ottoman values and perspectives.

Emily and Jensen discussed how Ottoman hierarchies replicate social categories in the Roman world.

Sarah A. and Bethany explain to the group that Ottomans drew upon the resources they found in Constantinople, including the water systems.

Sarah H. and Lauren discuss the significance of the Ottomans breaching the ancient city walls.

Bear and Grace also discuss the city walls, especially the sea walls, standing in front of the Byzantine Nike.

Victoria and Mason show us how coins communicate the values of a society.

Finally, Courtney and Paloma introduce the concept of "intellectual wealth" to describe the Ottoman's collection of artifacts from around their expansive empire.

Nice work everyone!
